Hello Mike,

Thanks for your comments about your desire to use FusionPro for your B&W
work where there is no RIP involved in the workflow. We have looked at
this item in the past but it's worth a revisit on our part. In the past
couple years, we've seen VDP adoption accelerate with a growing number
of users of the lighter-production B&W equipment getting more involved
in VDP production.

The FusionPro engine currently creates PostScript output based on its
own internal PostScript output module. This is opposed to the method of
using a printer driver/PPD to create that output. This being the case,
we are not hooking into the specific options for each device like you
would see from the Printer properties in a "File->Print" operation for a
file.

In addition, since there is no absolute standard way to specify "duplex"
or "pull from tray 2" in PostScript (each printer can require a
different command to do this which is incompatible with other printers),
it hasn't been possible for us to add this as a standard capability for
our PostScript output.

Granted, though, there is definite market need for this capability so we
will look at how we might bring this functionality to market.

Out of curiosity (and the ensure I understand the precise need), is the
desired capability pretty much the same as if you were to compose to PDF
output first, open that PDF output in Acrobat, and then do a File->Print
to your printer - setting the appropriate printer options at that point?

Thanks again for your feedback on this!
