Hello everyone,
Printable has released an update to the VDP software products -
FusionPro 5.8P1g for Windows. FusionPro 5.8P1g is an update from the
last official release of the FusionPro VDP products - version 5.8P1d.
Note that this is an update to the FusionPro Desktop, Direct, and Server
products.
FusionPro 5.8P1g for Windows has been tested and is compatible with the
FusionPro Web system.
Development is continuing on FusionPro 5.8 for the Mac platform with one
remaining issue being investigated prior to release. FusionPro 5.8 for
Mac will be announced on this forum when it is available.
Note that the FusionPro 5.8 release has introduced 2 new pieces of
functionality:
- Unicode typesetting (to typeset the 8 new languages including
Chinese and Japanese)
- "Black only" crop marks
If you do not have a need for these new features, feel free to continue
using the next most current release of FusionPro - version 5.1.

Issues fixed in 5.8P1g include:

FP-11020, FP-11014
Text appearing as "dots". Variable text composed with certain fonts in
FusionPro 5.8 appeared as "dots" in output.
FP-11021
Select special characters not appearing in FusionPro Server output.
Templates created with a version of FusionPro Desktop prior to 5.8 which
were composed with FusionPro Server 5.8 had special characters, such as
curly-quotes, trademark character, and the Euro symbol, not appearing in
the output.
FP-11016
Unicode UTF-16 encoded input data failed to compose with stacking. When
using UTF-16 encoded Unicode data in a composition that uses stacking,
some compositions gave a "no record found" message resulting in no
output.
FP-11007
Select types of variable images are over-enlarged - up to 4x in some
cases - which had been fine in versions of FusionPro prior to 5.8.
