Was wondering if anyone on the forum has found a better way to get smaller, more efficient PDFs from Quark when exporting using the FusionPro plugin.

Hi Michael:

Thanks for the feedback. FusionPro Quark Export works differently from InDesign so you can not tweak the output in the same way.

If you dare, here is one work around. (Disclaimer: if you do this, your on your own and I do not think support can help you much). Open startupNORM.ps with a text editor and edit the default settings. On the Mac you will find it somewhere under /Library/Frameworks/ Normali... and on the PC is should be in your Printable application folder or a couple levels down. Pay attention to values like GreyImageResolution and ColorImageResolution. We may change the way to do this someday.

Also, you can try changing your export EPS page settings on Quark. We may pick up some of these during our operation. Although, I am not sure which ones we sniff and which ones we set explicitly. And the operation is different depending on the version of Quark.

Lastly, once in Acrobat Professional, what some people do is use the "PDF Optimizer" option after the PDF was already created. This may be your easiest/safest route.
