29Aug97 EU: EU/CIVIL SOCIETY - REFLECTIONS ON THE AMSTERDAM TREATY. REFLECTION DAYS ON AMSTERDAM TREATY ON 10 SEPTEMBER, ESTATES GENERAL ON EMPLOYMENT ON 20 NOVEMBER. Brussels, 28/08/1997 (Agence Europe) - The Permanent Forum on Civil Society, which, on the initiative of the International European Movement, brings together some one hundred European non-governmental organizations, is organizing "Estates General" on employment in Luxembourg on 20 November, before the special EU summit on this subject. On this occasion, the Forum intends taking a stance in the fight against unemployment, poverty and social exclusion before this special European Summit, as well as examining problems relating to the implementation of the "employment" chapter of the draft Amsterdam Treaty. Among the Forum's other initiatives, we may also mention that, in the framework of NGOs being mobilized before the debates on ratification of the amsterdam Treaty in Member States, a day of reflection is being organized on the new treaty in Brussels on 10 September, and initiatives will be organized at national level, with NGO participation, that of Euro-MPs and members of national parliaments.
