Yes, the TU policies in some countries been to fight for 35 hours week - though unfortunately not here in the UK, since the left wing was defeated in the 80s. But I dont think they have been very successful after the initial victories in the 70s, when government administration and some similar posts became flexible or 35hr. Since then there were no improvement. There is great support for 35 hours week by employees everywhere, there were big demonstrations for it in France and only a few days ago in Greece, where there were a 24 hourd general strike - not nebtioned in the mass media here. I doubt it if the present jumpy financial/economic climate would encourage our captains of industry to be forsighted enough for such a move - though it would help to prolongue capitalism a wee bit longer.
