I found the discussion lists fascinatingly efficiently self-selective. If there is no interest in a thread, it dies without any action on the part of the moderator. I was surprised to learn the high number of members, the level of active participants did not suggest it. By the way I was on it when started, found it boring and left for a year (perhaps two) and I was reregistered by some default, so had an other look and found some of the stuff interesting, though most of it long winded. You seem to write conference papers, not concise reports/arguments/summaries/comments that are most suitable for this medium. Sometimes I think people get paid for posting here and by the word... In other lists there is more informal way of talking about that common interest that keep the list together, it is like a coffeeshop, where you enjoy to go to change ideas, get to know interesing people, and not one where you have a duty to go to... (Also there is no need to re-print all the past texts of a thread...) ok, I had to whinge a bit, sorry, it won't happen again. Eva [EMAIL PROTECTED]
