I'm afraid I don't know what SME-s are, from your description
sounds like small/mediumsized businesses.
So, if I guess correctly, you state, that these
should take the place of the mass producers,
and this would solve our problems of
ailing capitalism?
The fact remains, that globally there are
enormous human needs to be satisfied,
and however liberated, however small,
however mobile, busenesses cannot fulfill
such an enourmous task based on
profitability and the "justice by market".
I do think, that a lot of industries should fracture
to cater more for local needs and save on energy and transport,
however, tremendous integration will be necessary to make sure, all
raw materials and resourses are sorted out optimally and sustainably.
If it can be done environmentally and sustainably,
may eventually free
humans from work as we know it, so
every individual may develop their
creative capacities all though life,
being able to do with ease and pleasure
various tasks - some of them on a rota system,
some of them because they want to.
Going back to small enterprises wouldn't
work towards such a development.
