Physical operating within a non-physical pattern? Are you sure?
Have you ever seen it? <G>

Shucks, Jay that's why the scientific model can't discover it which was the
point of this whole conversation. The mathematics of chaos posits an
attractor as the place where energy is pulled towards. It is this
concentration of energy which emerges into form. If the attractor moves or
changes, form moves (decays, growth, increased weight, etc.). The pattern
is the shape of the form and so far I haven't read enough to know whether we
know how the pattern is created except through the concept of "self
organization" which seems to be one of the properties of energy. It is this
concept of "self organization" that goes against the concept of evolution,
which is change towards increased survival. In chaos mathematics, the
concept of survival does not seem to be an issue because of the
understanding of the First Principle of Thermodynamics. What chaos
mathematics indicates is that matter is constantly changing form and that
this is natural without the concept of a goal. Rather frightening in a way,
an indeterminate universe. God may choose to breathe out as the Hindus say,
and we are all gone-never existed, no artifacts, no memory, never was.
Yeast!

Most of these answers I am giving you are from the book Web of Life I'm
reading and I may not even be reinterpreting it right or I may change my
mind tomorrow. Right now, sounds good to me!
