Here is one I received on Sunday although I have no correspondence with Australia.

As I am not very accomplished with computers, I have to ask someone if they know what may have happened to my system last week.

BACKGROUND

I was getting blue-screens constantly. Even Norton would be "blue-screened". In MSword, I had to save almost every sentence. I got so frustrated that I removed all of Office 2000 (yes, I operate a dinosaur on Win98 platform). I even removed all of Norton as I felt it was compromised. As I have no base platform backup (low space availability), I could not remove the Win98.  I then "re"-set-up Win98 over-top of the old one, Norton and MSoffice 2000 (only those options I wanted), did a full scan and the system ran fine for 3 days EXCEPT THAT my email address file was missing. I set up a completely new one from my "sent file". Then it went blue-screens again after an unknown download session. I thought it was Norton but was not paying attention at first, then I noticed that the Norton icon "receiver" was not showing but as I went to stop the download, it ended on its own.

It all began again.

This time I only removed MSoffice 2000. Then when I did the new set-up I purposefully left out all of the templates and wizards as I felt that if there was a _javascript_ worm it may be hiding in those files or applications and not be seen by Norton. Since this time, my "old" email address file has re-appeared (should I get rid of it? I have saved the new file I set up.), and, I have only had 2 blue-screens in MSword but the temperature was over 90degrees Fahrenheit in the house and Word "captured" the files (for the first time since using the program to my memory) and nothing was lost.

QUESTION

Did I have some kind of _javascript_ Trojan Worm hiding in the template/ wizard files? I have had Norton check everything and it says all is OK but it was doing that during the problems (usually after 2 or 3 attempts because it was going blue-screen). After the second set-up of MSOffice 2000 (no templates or wizards), Norton went through the virus check unimpeded and stated all systems OK. It did pick up this email virus so I assume it is working properly now. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks,
Darryl

P.S. Whenever I set my Outlook Express to end connection after send or receive and then I try to send something, the system checks for incoming mail and then hangs up before the mail is sent because Norton is checking the mail. Any ideas on how to get rid of this glitch?
