I believe Arthur recently made a
comment about things sometimes being just what they
seem to be, in response to my vignette about
persons throwing used paper towels on the
men's room vestibule floor where I work.

(1) I approached the company's Facilities Manager
and asked if I could put a wastecan in the
vestibule.  I was granted authorization.
I did it.  There have been no more used paper
towels on the floor and there have been some in the
wastebin.  This seems a clear example of
formulating an empirical hypothesis and
observing the results of testing it out....  [Of course,
I still have little idea *why* persons were
throwing the paper towels on the floor in the
first place, although such possibilities
as dogged spitefulness --
as opposed, e.g., to essentially
unantagonistic self-importance -- seem pretty much ruled out.]

(2) I have modified a[nother] Dilbert cartoon to
exemplify Arthur's point, and its potential
conequentiality:
