This is the typical nonsense that passes for American research these days. If A->B and A->C, these smarties always assert "B->C" while ignoring A. (usually, A is a taboo for commercial or ideological reasons) Tay-Sachs is the result of inbreeding, also in other species, e.g. dogs. Ashkenazic intelligence is the result of long-term breeding intended to maximize intelligence. Since this breeding happened in small circles, it was inbreeding... The interesting question is not whether Tay-Sachs is "a side effect of .. intelligence" (chutzpa), but why zionists use the double standard in human breeding -- encouraging and practicing it among themselves but banning it for all others.
