Researchers Say Intelligence and Diseases May Be Linked in Ashkenazic
Genes
By NICHOLAS WADE

"It would be hard to overstate how politically incorrect this paper
is," said Steven Pinker, a cognitive scientist at Harvard, noting that
it argues for an inherited difference in intelligence between groups.
Still, he said, "it's certainly a thorough and well-argued paper, not
one that can easily be dismissed outright."

So "we" don't like "intelligent design" and other right-wing fundamentalist
cr-p being taught in our schools?
Well, I think "we" are only getting what "we" deserve. The
terrorism of the PoliticallyCorrectocracy is fundamentalism's
siamese twin. Only politically acceptable truth can be
truth -- the only question is *whose politics*?
The West took a wrong turn 400 years ago when it chose
Descartes et al. over Rabelais, Erasmus et al. Stephen Toulmin's
fine little book _Cosmopolis: The hidden agenda of modernity_
describes this fateful choice (or whatever one wishes to call it...) well.
In the 20th century, we had the emergence of the
"postmodernist" neoplasm in the body politic. Husserl's
discourse about the Crisis of European humanity [of course
there are other fine texts in this regard, but Husserl was
I would argue the "deepest" thinker of the 20th century] still
stands because in the age of printed books it is very
difficult for something once printed to return to
non-being. Jurgen Habermas's work on "discourse ethics"
and discourse in general [not "language"!] carries on
Husserl's work today.
I would like to recall once again some words from Hannah Arendt:
Arendt said she hesitated to criticize Marx for fear of abetting
lesser minds whose truths are of less value than
a great thinker's errors.
Nietzsche got one thing right: "The earth has become small, and on
it hops The Last Man [e.g., the postomdernists] who makes
everything small.... The Last Man lasts longest."
It is sad, but "at least" I am getting older. I just hope I age out
of the system before it turns me into a piece of roadkill on the
ideological superhighway du jour [yes, I know, there
are several traffic streams merged into that
one [wrong] way: deregulation, postmodernism,
fundamentalism -- all kinds --, etc.] I don't want to be
a squirrel convulsing because it got hit but not completely
squashed [I once saw one of these].
