Thanks for the medical diagnoses clues, Darryl. I'm concerned that our society is becoming accustomed to depending on others, an institutionalization of even the most mundane activities of life. Even if the systems upon which we depend remain reliable, my sense is that people are losing a significant part of what it means to be alive: to have a growing portfolio of skills and competencies.
