So, designers and managers are both to blame?  Or are they both victims of
other "persons who put them in such a situation" -- e.g. the consumers, or
even the Japanese and European car manufacturers, or the high oil prices?
Or perhaps are they victims of the dogma that "the American way of life
[oversized engines, ugly designs etc.] is NOT negotiable"?  So maybe
Detroit will have to negotiate with Dubya to stay in business.  "Oh please
Dubya, we'll have to change our designs so people will buy our cars!"
Dubya may listen -- after all he believes in Intelligent Design, doesn't he?
