Junk food has two aspects -- lack of nutrients and high content of
their antagonists including refined sugar and starch. Two sides of
the same coin -- I emphasized the one and you emphasize the other.
The importance of "genetic disposition" and "lack of exercise" is
widely exaggerated by the industry in order to blame the victims
("it's not the junk food the industry sells to maximize profits,
it's the victims who have the wrong genes and habits")
and to get public acceptance for genetic tinkering and other band-aids.

Again, it's not just the overindulgence in sugar and starch, but
the junk foods are highly deficient in the healthy essential fatty
acids (omega-3) while brimming with the unhealthy fats (saturated,
omega-6 and trans-fats which are antagonists of omega-3).

It would be more efficient and practical to ban the unhealthy
ingredients that merely serve the profit-maximization of already
super-rich shareholders of both the "food" and pharma industries.
Those who blame genes and elevators are helping to perpetuate
their anti-social rip-off.
