Prices and employee wages are at the going rate. If the CEOs were paid from these, they would leave for a firm with lower CEO returns.
We here of the dozen or so very highly paid, but there are tens of thousands of CEOs in the US. The shareholders pay the exorbitancies. As for the outrageous prices of the pharmas, the patent law effectively stops competition - the best way to bring down prices.
