I'm well, thanks Ray... My note was just reflecting on what I perceived to
be the current perspective of the class I've just been teaching where the
students (average age late 20's) seemed to be much more inward looking and
withdrawn than any of the parallel classes I've been involved with over the
last few years and after seeing a raft of current movies (I've been flying a
lot) most of which have a theme of hopelessness and no (realistic) way of
getting from (a less than satisfactory) here to a (desireable and rather
more hopeful) there.

Or maybe we are just more tired? Hi Mike. How are you doing?

Hi Ray,

Yes, same old but I get a sense of a bit more desperation and even
hopelessness in the broader culture...

Good to see your name again. What's happening? Same old. People losing
jobs. Jobs going to China and elsewhere. Automating work which increases
productivity but those who lose jobs often have no place to go. Needed is a
total re-think of the way we produce and price goods and services and the
way in which income is distributed.
