I just went back and read each of your CVs. I can understand Glen Beck or a Tea person throwing names around but we just begin to sound old when we do it. I love a zinger as much as the next person but "Socialist?" Which Socialism? As a matter of fact: Which Capitalism?
You got Mike's attention when you zinged him. He got your attention back when he zinged you. Your point was to open a discussion and several good posts arose out of it. Each of you are very powerful souls. Each of you took me to places about Krugman, who is a favorite of mine, that I wouldn't have necessarily gone to. My response to that was my post about what the late John Warfield called the "New University" and a society based in a balance of Heritage, Observation and Legacy. (Tradition/Profession/Futuristics) That included a proposal, that certain Communist Chinese Academics, the U.S. Department of Defense, Congressional committees during the Clinton Administration as well as corporations like Ford Motor Company and the UN in Cypress were/are using for conflict resolution and cultural system's design. When I went through that it resonated with my own experience of native councils and our government intellectual structures. I've seen it (Integrated Management) work and use it daily in my work. I've also seen it work with various successful artists who use the evolution of character through Integrated Structural Modeling (ISM) to create successful movies and TV shows. For example the movie: "Bridges of Madison County." It has been used by Native Nations to speed up local council structures that usually take up to a year to complete when it can be done, without violence to the system, through the use of ISM and computer programs in a few days. Something that given the pressure from the world, gives an advantage to those groups who use it. It is thoroughly Democratic, works to resolve group pathologies, such as Groupthink, Spreadthink and Clanthink. Through the use of Nominative Group Process and Computer programs to analyze the structure of what is being thought and proposed, a design emerges for a way out of conflicting. But here's the point: Like Denninger, it's just a story that emerges. Sometimes the story works and sometimes the story crashes. Sometimes you can turn Chicken manure into beautiful crops and sometimes you destroy a river's ecco system with the runoff. The point is that we control the story. When it doesn't work we have to do better. The world did a 180 degree turn when Sam Lipmann sat in front of the wealthy market Associates and stirred their paranoia so he could get funding for his political journal the New Criterion. He followed the way of the ex-spy William Buckley who got the CIA to fund his new magazine. I have no illusions of what can be accomplished. I'm 68 years old. But I've started voice lessons again for a new concert. I'm talking to you all and I have a community to serve for the ceremonials that connect them to who they are. I also have a small cadre of wonderful students. I choose to be on the side of what I think is right. I don't respect Denninger because he thinks of the market as a forest that didn't work. It is a nightmare where people are sacrificed for the sake of the structure. I love Aztec theology. It's smart and as fine as any philosophy or theology in the world and it ended in ripping one man, woman or child's heart out of their chest every day because their sun would fail if they didn't. I do not support human sacrifice whether it's Tenochtitlan or Wall Street. I also choose to talk to everyone, especially if they have accomplished and are smart. I also choose to enjoy my wife and spend the rest of my life happy. The world is in the hand of a greater mind than mine and I will do my share but I won't worry about what I can't do. If it's hot, I'll stay inside or I will go to the water everyday no matter how hot or cold and teach my body to adjust as I always have. The new bugs are terrible and I'm getting older but they are life and I am life and I have eaten them and they will eat me. That's it. But Socialists? Capitalists? They are all irrelevant to me. Stupid? That's relevant and I can do something about that one body at a time and I do. Inexpressive, tone deaf? I can do something about that too and I do. As for you guys and gals. You are all smart. I like that. I believe devoutly in tit for tat. Even enjoy it. Zero sum is murder. I don't honor that. I also don't honor people who leave other people behind for their own gain.
