I see nothing uncool about what you say. But I see the problem differently. Without a capital base in capitalist society the only possibility is private or public salary. Public servants hate it and continually try to tear down their old employers. Private servants do the same although they have been paid better in the past although that is changing. Either way neither are capitalists and both are servants. In order to innovate, you must have capital, as was pointed out in the article on unequal taxes here: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/18/business/working-all-day-for-the-irs-commo n-sense.html?hp A middle class family with two kids will divide the inheritance capital between them and have a nestegg but not enough to start a business. More than likely they will buy a small home and fight the credit rating game for the rest of their lives. The world is filled with business opportunities but the money is boxed up and unavailable. The reason that immigrant families succeed while locals do not is that they have a sense of the family as a corporation. It will take a couple of generations for their children to buy the hyper-individualist "hero" myth that John Galt represents. It is not an issue of the government having the money. It's an issue of it being stuck in the 1% and their luxury. You confuse me Arthur. A societal price to pay down the road. From the article: "The shift is affecting children's lives. Researchers have consistently found that children born outside marriage face elevated risks of falling into poverty <http://www.urban.org/publications/410541.html> , failing in school or suffering emotional and behavioral problems <http://futureofchildren.org/futureofchildren/publications/docs/15_02_05.pdf > ." While its not cool or politically correct to say, we will, at some point have to pay attention to the range of issues raised by Charles Murray in his book "Coming Apart." We are seeing profound class distinctions emerge for a number of reasons, including changes in the workforce.
