Been there done that. I lost all of my business e-mails last year as a
result of a problem with Outlook re-installation and before that a
professional computer tech wiped my hard drive. This year I lost all of
my business bookmarks for my community on the internet in a so called
"replacement" of a machine because it has a built in three to four year life
span in order to keep up the market.
Better to have a serious bureau of standards and develop something that you
can do your work on over more than a six year span. The capitalist system
doesn't work for any work but selling computers, automobiles and the like,
and upgrading programs that destroy the old.
The problem is not only the stealing of information but the loss of material
as they constantly tinker in order to make a buck. ("Tinker's damn?")
I'm sorry Mike's going through it but when I've mentioned this in the past,
the list has implied that the problem was with me. It isn't. Sorry it is
now spreading around. Especially to such a good guy as Mike.

Arthur,
I would appreciate it if you were to pass this along to the Futurework and
Dissenters elists... for reasons that should clear from the blogpost, I'm
not currently able to do this myself.
Best,
