Me:

However much the chattering classes don't like it, the trash newspaper and
talk radio often have their fingers on the pulse. The "high brow" media are
all too often tied in with various ruling class sources of funds or support
or whatever and will all too often overlook and/or not report on the
obvious.

Well, you know surveys. But perhaps a partial reflection of sentiments.
Keith has no cause to relocate, right?

I'm of an age and condition when I can't even locate out of the house I live
in. If I were young and untrammelled I'm not at all sure where I'd fancy
going to. I'd have to sleep on this one! However, I can well believe that
almost half our population wants to leave the UK. Our governments, left or
right, are fast becoming either corrupt or a joke. When you consider that
our last two ex-prime ministers, Blair and Brown, hardly ever dare show
their faces in public for fear of remonstrance, then this gives a measure of
the demoralization of the last decade or so. But I don't believe that modern
societies necessarily have to collapse completely, as the older, simpler
ones did. As we were the first into the industrial revolution, maybe we are
already leaving it and feeling our way into the next one. If so, then the
next few decades could be very interesting and I'd certainly want to stay
and observe it!
