Old News Darryl,

What's new is the tar sands and the destruction of our neighbor to the North
for a buck. You were the country of Slings and Arrows, the Canada Council
for the Arts and crazy wonderful ideals. It's always easier to talk about
Russian Communists than it is to speak of the first 70 years of America.
Chattel slavery is yesterday's news. Gulags are still popular. The one
thing I will say for the Russians is rather than going to Africa for their
slaves, they did it at home and in their satellites. People like me would
have been in the Gulag because I am a bit a malcontent. I would be an OK
prisoner but a lousy slave.

Does this mean the mantra"Win at all cost." now pervades the entire U.S.
of A. mentality? No empathy. No appreciation. No grace in defeat, because
defeat is not allowed? Obviously good sportsmanship is not taught in the
schools and, of course, when it comes to war there is no such concern when
attempting to kill someone.

I think those comments sum up the general American attitude very well.
"Pride goeth before the fall."
