It doesn't matter if you have never been to a ceremony or don't know what your clans are, or if you grew up with ceremonies all your life, nor do I care if your attend Native American Church meetings, a Christian Church, or that your are Baptist, Mormon, Catholic, or even new age. I also don't care if you have a degree or are called a doctor, or that you went and traveled the world, of if you married another culture or tribe. It doesn't matter if you have a mohawk or a traditional hairbun, of what music you listen to or dance or sing to. I don't care if you are rich or poor, or you have a great new vehicle or an old rez rocket, or if even you have to walk everywhere or even hitchhike. I also don't care if you are married or not, or even are gay or have a mate, doesn't matter. I don't care also about whether you are a politician or a activist or a person who doesn't care to vote or participate in any election or even if you are a republican or a democrat or even an atheist. I don't care if your are one quarter, half, or a full blood Navajo or your great grandparents are Navajo. It doesn't matter if you have new nikes, or wear old holey moccasins or wear a torn shirt because of poverty or have 50 business suits in your home with 50 new shoes. It doesn't matter also if you live on or off the rez, or eat meat or love spam or love to drink and party. It doesnt matter to me if you are a veteran or never enlisted in any military service, or if you sundance or powwow, or you are a traditional or modern Navajo. What matters to me is if you proud to be DINE? That you are willing to sacrifice yourself, time and efforts, and ideals for the common good of our nation and holy lands? What I care about is that you appreciate the ultimate sacrifices our ancestors did for you to live on this land and the freedom to go to church or spiritual places. Also what I care about is will you defend with your life our future? or will you take time to see what has become of what we are now? and to look deep into yourself and see that your great ancestors are proud of you regardless of what you are now, but that you have an once of ancient DINE Blood that flows through your veins. Again what I care about is are you willing to look at yourself and other DINE and reach out without judgement and shake a strangers hand and say "hello mom. dad, brother sister, niece, nephew, son or daughter? It does matter that you come home to us again and sit with our beautiful clans of families that hold our sacred ties to each other. What matters most to me is are you willing to create a new society and new government for a new direction for a new future? That you are willing to call yourself a Nahokaa Diyiin Dine (Holy Earth Surface Person) before you call yourself an American? What I also care about is are you willing to trust our language, ancient beliefs that holds our essence of who we are unique in this crazy world? It does matter that you come home to our holy lands and remember why we were subjugated and imprisoned with genocide? I do care if you have a heart ache or am lonely for love and respect and honor, or that you are willing to forgive yourself for what you may have done to hurt another DINE.It does matter to me that you are my mom, dad, grandparent, so or daughter in these awful times of political, religious, and economic pressures that make us further from ourselves as a precious DINE family. Yes I do care about you and it does matter that you see me as a DINE RELATIVE and that we know and learn what that sacred word "HOZHO NAHASDLII" "It is all in ultimate beauty and peace" means and that we think, speak, listen, and act with HOZHO ENERGY with each other. Yes it does matter that you don't use your enemy prayers against those who are your relatives and members of your families. Yes I do care that we must come together as one Holy DINE people for our future generations. Mao said that political power comes out of the barrel of a gun. Here political power comes out of the ballot box. Enraged citizens will muster the clout to access some of the albeit printed money to at least tide them over. The banks have/had the inside track thanks to lobbyists with the ability to woo/buy politicians. Politicians who worry about losing elections may begin to think differently about where to direct government bailouts. There is a crunch among the unemployed and never to be employed again. Currently they are largely voiceless and are only paid 'lip service' by politicos who pile on the promises. The US and other governments recently found an enormous pile of money (or of something that passed, on casual inspection, for money) because a crunch had come for very large financial institutions. No similar pile of money, not even a couple of boxcars full, has been found for medical bankrupts, foreclosed homeowners, long-term unemployed, communities whose main employer has moved to Mexico or recent graduates burdened with unrepayable debt.
