Although now that the top one percent is extravagantly rich there may be more patrons of the arts and buyers of art works of all kinds.
I am saying this partially as a joke but thinking that there might be something to it. However the beneficence of the wealthy is unlikely to be evenly distributed or evenly felt in the art world, broadly defined. Easy to get jobs and promotions. Not too difficult to buy a nice house and even put a full-sized pool in the backyard so that you and the kids could have a swim. Not at all like that now.
