You can imagine what would happen if the CEO was named William R. Talking Stick or Charles L. Flaming Eagle. The Yonegas would be storming some reservation and blaming it on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or child abuse. Maybe it is. Did the CEO's mother drink when she was pregnant? We were taught that it mattered what we did because it always came home if it wasn't good.
Herbert Hoover's Osage, Kaw Clan Vice President Charles Curtis is a good case in point for anyone who knows the history. It matters what you do. It lives far beyond your time here. I thought it was a good thing when Michael Milken got out of jail, his first stop was the Jewish Theological Seminary where he worked on his morality, and since that time he has done many good things. Curtis couldn't do that, the Curtis Act in Congress (known as the Dawes Act) destroyed all Indian Nations in America and made the religion illegal because they were, like Judaism, land based and were against the destruction of their "Jerusalem." He couldn't return to the morality of his religion to contemplate his sins. Although the law was changed in 1978 it's still going on with most of the nations but especially the Sundancers in the Lakota Nations who refuse to take money for the Sacred Black Hills even though the people are destitute and have a 90% unemployment. Any "emergency" of national proportions should take precedence for the "safety and preservation of the country" over any and all greed of recompense. If this is really what the 5th amendment states, then it is time to re-write it. But, when such an "emergency" may destabilize the entire country, then this should be taken as an attack on the country itself and the traitors who are attempting to overthrow the government by these methods (in this case the CEO's, both past and present, who allowed these destructive patterns to continue) and these people should be tried as the national criminals they are - seditionists and traitors. Starr argued that the actions violated the Fifth Amendment. "The government is not empowered to trample shareholder and property rights even in the midst of a financial emergency," the Starr complaint says.
