SOCIALISTIC THEORIES ARE DEAD!!!

August 3, 2000

Hi Andrew,

You start your July 23, 2000 email to me with: I think Russia, Cuba,
North Korea, and China have pretty well proven that socialialist
theories are extinct (emphasis added). My remarks focus on this
statement.

I think it would be helpful if we consider how the word socialism is
used. The best way to go about this is to give an example. In this
country, the control over business by government (socialism) took a huge
leap during FDRs administration. There were no hard core complaints
about this drastic change, certainly not from the capitalists. Before
one week was out in FDRs administration, the government, in essence,
took over the banks by way of the bank holiday and the Reconstruction
Finance Corporation. This corporation was owned and exclusively
controlled by the federal government. This was a big socialist step. No
capitalist complained.

However, it made no difference how much socialism was introduced, the
Great Depressions problems did not lessen. The Great Depression was
solved by W.W. II. FDR and his socialism were a failure.

I lived through these times (Im 87) and was well aware of these social
issues. From that time up to today, I have found only one organization,
Technocracy Inc., a scientific, educational-research, non-profit
organization, which understands North Americas problems.

We live in the only scientific-technological age ever known. Because
this age is unique, using socialialist theories (your expression) would
not solve anything now anymore than it did in the 1930s

Science and technology, used in a design that is laid out to be
compatible with modern times, our scientific-technological age, is the
only solution.

If one is sincere and wants to understand modern times and if that
person can divorce him/herself from the cultural hangups that we have
learned starting in infancy, that person is well advised to study
Technocracys concepts. Mind you, the word study is well chosen
because it requires scrutinizing with a critical mind, not blanket
acceptance.

For such a study, two places are recommended: (1) Log onto
www.technocracyinc.org and especially read Man-Hours and Distribution,
and (2) Log onto www.technocracysf.org and especially read A Commentary
to Jim Lehrer.

Sincerely,

John A. Taube
