I propose the main thing distance-working has against it
is that the BOSS can't jerk "his" (or "her") *employees*
around as responsively.

But I have little doubt that
this problem can be solved by new advances in both communication
and allied technologies and also in the self-styled social sciences.

I repeat the words of a 2nd line manager I once had:

I want to see asses and elbows.

That's a pretty juicy "perk" to take away!

As far as architecture is concerned, I think the
most important advance would be to humanize the
working of the architectural workers, whatever
kind of buildings they are designing.

The Charette should become something that young people who are
supposed to be ignorant of history will think
was a prison the people stormed during The French Revolution.

The "principals" of architecture firms should
be made to study Hegel's story of "the gentleman and his
butler" (in _The Phenomenology_...).

"Yours in discourse...."
