Why on earth should the authorities be embarrassed? This is an immense fire and in many areas cannot possibly be controlled by any method known to man. BBC news this morning says that some Sydney authorities are now saying that half the fires were started by yobboes. Others say that "most" have been. Sydney police have started a Strike Force including psychiatrists, social workers and so on, not only to find the arsonists but to discover why they started fires.
