Proudhon wrote "property is theft". George was in favour of a land tax.
Probably both were on the right track...for different reasons and different
outcomes. Now how to implement? Some mighty powerful interests are stacked
against both Proudhon and George, including all the middle class home owners
who see their homes as vehicles for investment.

I am not a "georgist" but have always been sympathetic to his ideas.

Harry and Keith,
George Orwell wrote 1984 in 1948, were you reading any of his essay's
at that time?
