Just keep whispering into her ear

MV=PT

or C+I+G=GNP

she'll soon get the idea.

Subject: My economist dog

It's a busy time of the month for me so my usual early morning meditation
on economics has to be curtailed. No doubt a relief to some (many?)

However, I much want to share the news with you that dogs can count and
add. A Prof Young, interviewed on BBC Radio this morning, has apparently
proved this with some sophisticated experiments involving reaction times.

. . . . now, I've often wondered. The last thing I do before I go to bed is
to give my dog, Lottie, two biscuits. I have, in fact, experimented on
occasion by giving her one, or perhaps three of four, and I've noticed that
she looks at me in quite different ways (positively or negatively!) when
departing from the usual two.

It's hardly scientific, I know, but I'm sure Lottie will make a decent
enough economist in due course. She's only three-years-old now so I can't
expect many creative breakthroughs on our morning dogwalks until she's got
the basics such as Smith or Ricardo under her collar. But I hope something
interesting will emerge in due course and I will, of course, share these
thoughts with FW if they do.
