Where is the evidence of anything more than "coincidences" here?

Last Sunday's New York Times Sunday Magazine's feature article
was precisely about the subject of coincidences and/versus
conspiracies.

Is Mr./Dr./other Devort talking about things beyond personal
experience which he seems to find fault with in others such
as or perhaps only myself?
