I didn't think that hedgehogs and moles were
closely related. We do not have
hedgehogs in the USA, to the best
of my knowledge (hedgehogs are not
like prairie dogs, either).

I've never seen one, but I understand that
hedgehogs at least look like little
porcupines, and are prickly like porcupines.

Hedgehogs and moles I believe illustrate
both sides of the fundamental law of
nature: the fittest survive the worst; the best
need favorable conditions.

Who knows? Maybe moles could survive
a thermonuclear holocaust if they were
not physically crushed or vaporized by the
initial explosion?

Hedgehogs, on the other hand, I believe are
high-frequency British road kill.

(I forget his name, but when the general
who was head of British Bomber command during
WWII was once flagged down on the road by a
cop for driving dangerously, and the
cop warned him he might kill somebody the
way he was driving, he explained to the
cop that he killed thousands of people every day.)
