Greetings, Harry,

When Fahd dies, there will be no need for 'defense' of the oil fields. At
worst there would be internal uncertainty over succession and a failed coup
attempt - at worst, and highly unlikely. Even if that occurs, the oil
fields will need no 'defending.' Your 'civil disorder' poses no threat to
'oil fields.' Saudi Arabia needs the oil revenue, regardless of who heads
the government. 'Mobs?' I can see you haven't checked out where the oil
fields are.

If the US or any other country were to seize the oil fields, then of course,
there would be counter attack and the seizing forces would find themselves
in an unnecessary and ill-fated war. I do believe that the Bush admin. folks
have a lot to learn about the world in general and the Middle East in
particular, but don't believe that even they would be that blind.

Cheers,
Lawry

Lawry,

Civil disorder - the result of a breakdown perhaps stimulated by the death
of the King.

Mobs, or deliberate sabotage might occur, but not if they are defended by
trained troops and lots of barbed wire.

I have no information but suspect the 3000-4000 army formations around the
edge of SA in the Emirates and suchlike are mobile strike forces.

They'll probably turn out to be garrison troops!

Harry
