KWC: "But for the life of me I don't see how Bush is going to conduct a
proxy war to remove Hussein should the risk managers overcome the
chickenhawks. Would it really be possible for there to be a Prime Time
Sweeps Week war for television consumption and not face the aftermath of
incriminating evidence spread by the internet and independent satellites?"

KH: Whoops! You've totally lost me in the last paragraph!

KWC: My apologies to those who do not have regularly overhyped month-long
television designed to boost commercial ratings. It used to be Sweeps Week,
now it is a month. Can see it now, set your VCR for "Outtakes from the
Making of the Iraq War of Liberation".
In plain English, the Bush regime has put so much on the line here that if
it is anything less than a spectacular display of power, then he will wish
he was being flogged by his enemies, because his former supporters will be
out to kill him. Nothing like a zealot denied.
Or, my version 3.0, Bush has made such a loud case about Hussein flaunting
UN regulations for twelve years that unless a total regime change and
complete makeover occurs, he will fail. Old sales maxim he is ignoring:
"Undersell. Overdeliver". The risk for underachieving here is great.
Must be the Olympics, the Superbowl, the NBA Playoffs, the America's Cup,
Wimbledon and the Masters altogether. No surprise that they are trying to
lower expectations today before Powell goes to the UN Wednesday. - Karen
