This has been my feeling all along. In fact, even if it is short and
comes out the way Bush wants, the damage that has been done to the US in
anti-Americanism will have long-term profound effects on our exporting
capabilities. My view has been that this is likely to be good for the
rest of the world [although not great for me, personally]. The huge
demand on fossil fuels and the like should drop and Europe should come
into its own. Britain better hang on tightly to European coat tails. I am
also delighted that Turkey refused to go along with the US because a lot
fewer Kurds should be slaughtered as a result.
