I've recently discovered that Cheney is even cleverer at controlling his
body language than Perle. Instead of facing his interlocutor with total
stillness of his face and hands, Cheney only allows himself to be filmed
from the rear -- at least this is what happened at a recent strategy
meeting in the Oval Room. The back of his head is wonderfully effective.
Even I, with all my advanced interpretative skills couldn't tell what he
was really thinking.

When he has to face someone important, however, his stratagem is pure
Trappism. It is to say nothing. I quote from an FT centre-page "Man in the
News" article today written by James Harding:

"Mr Cheney occupies one of the most important positions in the world at the
lowest of decidel levels. When Tony Blair and his aides came to Camp David
last September to plot the United Nations route to tackling Iraq, Mr Cheney
sat through the meetings without saying a word. . . . "
