Checks and balances. When corruption is rampant, the system is out of balance.
There is no final fix to the system. Just keep tending the political garden and getting rid of the weeds. arthur -----Original Message----- From: Harry Pollard [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, June 16, 2003 11:59 AM To: Cordell, Arthur: ECOM; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Selma Singer Subject: If the prices are fixed - it isn't free trade? Arthur, His friends and colleagues on This Week pointed out that Brinkley was to the right - he thoroughly disliked Castro - but his political opinions never appeared on the air. So, his ancient demeanor is understandable. Take a look at the way things are, and one is tempted to be acerbic, withdrawn, and libertarian. ADM isn't the problem - it's the people who are bought any day and every day in Washington, Ottawa, the State and Provincial capitals, and the local councils. The problem isn't the privileged, but those who give them the privileges. Looks like "democracy" doesn't work very well. Note Selma, an intelligent, knowledgeable woman who didn't realize that the overwhelming majority of US electoral contests are fixed. Any suggestions?
