In today's NYT Week in Review, the lead
article is about America's ongoing -- and, so
far apparently unsuccessful -- attempts to
assassinate Saddam Hussein.

How can people fail to connect the dots?
The article says that we went to
war in Iraq as part of a blood feud vendetta
of Bush Jr against Saddam Hussein because Saddam
Hussein tried to kill Bush Jr's father
(Paterfamilias Bush). But the article does not
*spotlight* this sentence: The article doesn't
say: "Hey, folks! Did you really read the last
sentence? Did you really get what
it means to YOU?" So the
article hides the truth in plain sight,
which, we know, is the best hiding place of all.

In October 2002, Bush's Press Secretary explained
that only one bullet was needed to avoid
a war against Iraq.

How can't the American soldiers over in Iraq,
or at least their families over here, see what's
happening and think: "Oh, my God! You mean I [my
husband, wife, brother...] is over there being
shot at by those people all because some d-ck
wants to get back at some other d-ck for
trying to knock off his 'dad'?"

It's all on the White House web site,
in official press briefing transcripts.
How can people fail to connect the dots?
I've summarized the dots here:

"I just don't get it." (It is important to
practice being self-righteously indignant if it
doesn't come natural. Practice makes perfect,
as people say.)
