For the record Bob Hope was not my cup of tea.

Slapstick boring humour.

But a great friend of the establishment and a great supporter of US troops,
no matter what they were up to.

Thank you, Ray.
Of course, Roberto Esperanza = Bob Hope. His kind of humor was one of my
best examples of how culturally determined humor is. I remember, when I was
a kid, my whole family watching a show or a film with Bob Hope in TV and
(seriously) trying to figure out what was funny about what this man was
saying and doing. Through the years, I have seen his work several times but
I could never really connect with him. Perhaps he is more american than
universal, because I can perfectly enjoy and laugh with Woody Allen, or
Laurel & Hardy's films. Anyway, I understand he is a cultural hero, an icon.
Regards.
Salvador
