I Hope that you all don't believe that I was advocating Hope's right to
having the flag lowered to half mast for his death.   I think he got plenty
while he was still alive.    Let's have the flag lowered for a great writer
or musician who didn't make a lot of money but who will live in history.
The key word in my piece was "court jester."     Hope tweaked Jane Russell
more than he did Kings.
