I think some of the recent discussion (Karen, Selma, others) is 
directly related to James Robertson's concept of "ownwork".  See his 
book, Future Work (New York:Universe Books, 1985) and also his 
earlier book, The Sane Alternative (rev ed. 1983). James was early 
into these issues and his work was an important influence on my own 
thinking.   Sally
