It should be noted, though, that there is one industry that benefits
and grows from this, and that it is the #1 export industry of Israel:
The "security" industry.  (Pretty ironic in the least secure country.)
Note the term _export_ industry -- i.e. it has a vested interest in
other countries becoming unsafe too, as in 9/11, Iraq "liberation" etc.

As the Swedish journalist Peter Lagerquist reported in Le Monde
Diplomatique[1], the "security" industry was said to have an annual
growth rate of 9% already before 9/11 and was projected to be a
$200 billion business by 2010, mostly in the hands of Israelis.
After 9/11, the perspectives are even "better" (for that industry).
As Jonathan Tal, former boss of the security industry, put it:
"People think we can do everything the Mossad can do -- I think
we can benefit from the trademark Israel."
