In Europe, "perpetuum mobile" designs cannot be patented. If the US patent office does accept such applications, then perhaps it's the US patent office who is after the money, rather than the applicants -- who may simply be idealists (who indulge in wishful thinking about defeating the laws of thermodynamics) rather than money-makers... --- Natalia asked: > By the way, I heard Germany just deactivated or dismantled > the first of 19 nuclear power plants that they intend to retire. > Any idea what their alternative source will be? Alternative energies <G>, and increasing the efficiency of fossil fuels (i.a. more emphasis on natural gas). With a net result of *reducing* CO2 emissions. The gov't concluded that these measures, although costly, are cheaper than building/maintaining nuclear power plants.
