I get Fvwm-Crystal and gnome to work with gdm and gnome-session. I get the idea
from Thomas Adam's article on the Linux Gazette:
http://linuxgazette.net/100/adam.html

The problem with Thomas Adam solution is at it can be somewhat tricky to get
gnome-session to work well with fvwm, and the gnome session will be sacrified.

I experimented a little with this and get it to work very well with both wm. I
also find a way to get it to work from the "scratch". Read without any other
user intervention as just copy a few files in order to be able to launch both
gnome or fvwm-crystal directly from gdm.

What is needed is to modify one line in the 'fvwm-crystal.desktop' file for gdm,
a '~/.gnome2/session' file with a "start" section for Fvwm-Crystal, and to
modify the different Quit functions /Fvwm use QuitSession when managed by
gnome-session.

You can read more about it here:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-548178-highlight-.html

I think at it will be a really good optional feature for Fvwm-crystal. It is
just one thing I must think about before to commit this: test if gnome-session
is running, if yes incorporate a little session manager button.

Another solution will be to make the same test, and incorporate it in the menu
when gnome-session is running.

I prefer the button option, but if the majority want to have it in the menu, I
can do so.

I put a picture at

The session manager button is the little button at the lower left corner

The other 2 files show gnome-session.
On the first one, we can see the 2 sessions: Default is gnome, and Fvwm-Crystal
is Crystal.
On the second one, we can see the running programs. Alsaplayer is running but
don't appear. I don't care about it as it is launched from the Audio button.
