It doesn't seem to do this for me (mplayer-1.0rc2-4.1.2), but that
may depend on the aspect ratio of the media played.  Do you have
a freely accessible example video for that?  However, fvwm forgets
the normal geometry of the mplayer window during a restart.  This
may or may not be fvwm's fault.

BUt there is definitely something wrong with fullscreen state and
restart.  When I bring a seamonkey window to fullscreen, it takes
up the whole screen.  Now I'm using the style
"maxwindowsize 99 97" for browser windows.  After a restart the
fullscreen window shrinks from fullscreen to 99%x97% of the
screen.
