I'd like to explain my views on the new default config effort.
One of the few things I always here from my friends about fvwm is, how
terrible it is in looks and how non-workable the default config is.
Almost all my friends use fluxbox or another boxwm and to be frank,
their behaviour we can easily achieve, not that I want a boxwm-clone.
Also, if we get something which doesn't look like fresh from the early
90s we might have a chance to attract new users.
However, I see this as a group effort, we should decide where we want to
go (Please let's not go back to the 90s, been there, done that.) and
there is a group effort going on at the etherpad. It would be very nice
if the people not having read there, would head along and read what
we've come up with.
Commenting that config is very important. Imho the config is not for
users who now how to change the look and feel of the wm, it's for
attracting newbies.
We should also note the things we struggle with while getting this
wrapped up. Maybe we should do a feature wishlist, so we can give our
developers a direction where we would like fvwm to go and what is really
needed to have a somewhat modern, minimal, powerful and fast windowmanager.
For the decorations poll I would like to have a small contest or poll.
That's it so far from me, I'm looking forward to this and would like
some more views and ideas.
