Certainly "git commit -a" is the more disasterous, although I've never
had anything bad happen with "git add". Incidentally, you can also do
things like:
% git commit -v
Which will plonk a whole load of information as comments in the commit
message, which helps me sometimes at work, although I end up
monitoring:
% git status -sb
Which I find a lot more useful. I think maybe magit has something similar.
