Sorry, I've been cut off from computers for some time.

Scott, I figured it out. In my tabs config I had a XLFD font
description with the encoding string. Either the XLFD definition
didn't work, or the encoding part, anyway, like I said, it looked like
the first screenshot in attachment.

I'm guessing that because my definition of the font didn't work,
FvwmTabs used the first font with matching size it found for the Latin
part of the path, and since the Latin font apparently didn't contain
Cyrillic glyphs, it then searched for another font with cp1251 to
display the Cyrillic part correctly. That's why I got my path
displayed in two different fonts in a tab button.

Once I specified the font in the "Terminus -14 bold" format, it now
works great, thanks a lot :) See screenshot number two.
