Sorry for the late answer, but now I am
working fare from home in Germany...

My Development Workstation use 4 Debian releases, exactly, OldStable
Stable, testing and unstable.
I have chrooted the four X-Server parallel on <F9> to <F12> since my
Consoles <F1> to <F4> are UNSTABLE, <F5> to <F8> are TESTING, <F13>
to <F16> STABLE, <F17> to <F20> OLDSTABLE and <F21> to <F24> the
MasterSystem...
I have never had any problems with it...
Using a Matrox Millenium II 4 MByte.
My old Mainboard was a 686BX with a P2/333 and 384 MByte of memory
and now it is a Athlon XP 3000+ with 3 GByte of memory and a little
bit faster ;-)
But if you start the chroots, you must wait after each xserver start
that it can aquire a VT. which mean, you must wait up to the point
where the grey screen apears... then you can start the next xserver.
