That sounds like of load of crap. The software subscription is just so you
get the updates. You already have the software and the license.
The software subscription basically gives you an ID and password to
Checkpoint's site to download the updates and service packs.
The license code for your firewall and software subscription don't require
each other.
You need to look for a more honest vendor.
But you need to renew. It is worth it in the long run. But I don't think
it is a requirement for an install.

My software subscription ran out May 31.
I received 4.1 and a 4.1 perm license.
My reseller says that I have to get my

install 4.1 or I won't be able to access it
through the management module...
We are getting the software sub through
the process but not completed yet---
Will I have trouble installing/using 4.1 until
I get current with my software subscription ?
